Demand Forecasting for Rural Transit

Summary. Rural transit demand forecasting helps allocate limited transportation resources to underserved populations. This study developed three forecasting models based on usage data from four Washington counties to predict ridership on public transportation systems. The disaggregated transit demand model proved most refined and flexible, offering a practical tool for predicting transit needs in underserved rural areas.
