Renewable energy programs for rural electrification: Experience and lessons from India
Summary. India has electrified 94.5% of inhabited areas through grid connections, but off-grid renewable energy technologies have also spread widely. This paper documents India's experience with renewable energy-based off-grid electrification programs and extracts lessons to improve future program design and policy decisions for rural electrification.
