Blackfeet innovation pathways to food sovereignty: sustainability through indigenous-led research partnerships

Summary. The Blackfeet Nation in Montana developed an Agriculture Resource Management Plan to advance food sovereignty, economic development, and cultural sustainability for Indigenous producers. An Indigenous-led research project identified barriers and solutions for implementing this plan. The work demonstrates how tribal-controlled agricultural planning and research partnerships can improve producer livelihoods and community health outcomes while respecting ecological and cultural values.
