Financing as a key factor of the strategy of sustainable rural tourism development in the Republic of Serbia
Summary. Rural tourism in Serbia remains underdeveloped due to unclear strategic direction and insufficient financial investment. The authors argue that Serbia needs an adopted strategy for sustainable rural tourism development with defined priorities and financing mechanisms across all tourism segments. New and innovative funding sources are essential, as current options are limited. This strategy would support rural economic development, reduce regional inequality, and reverse rural depopulation.
