Rural–Urban Differences in Solar Renewable Energy Investments Supported by Public Finance in Poland

Summary. Poland's public funding for solar renewable energy between 2014–2020 supported 2,642 investments across urban and rural areas under identical principles. Rural investments concentrated in eastern and northeastern regions and depended on specific socio-economic factors, while urban investments dispersed evenly nationwide with no socio-economic dependency. Individual households played a significant but overlooked role alongside local governments. Future policies should prioritize household engagement to accelerate solar energy deployment.
