The importance of education innovation and degree of innovative practices by principals in rural secondary schools in South Africa

Summary. Rural secondary school principals in South Africa's Vhembe District understand the importance of educational innovation and actively implement new leadership and management practices to improve student achievement. The study surveyed 70 principals and found they recognize innovation's role in enhancing instruction quality and school performance, despite obstacles facing rural schools. These findings suggest that promoting educational innovation can strengthen learner outcomes and education quality in rural South African secondary schools.
