Student Learning Independence in Distance Learning at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (A Review of Teacher Professionalism in Urban and Rural Areas)

Summary. This study examined whether student learning independence during distance education differed between urban and rural Islamic secondary schools in South Kalimantan, Indonesia, accounting for teacher professionalism. Surveying 392 students, researchers found no significant difference in learning independence between urban and rural areas when teacher professionalism was controlled. However, teacher professionalism significantly influenced student learning independence in both settings, suggesting professional teaching quality matters more than location.
