Broadband communications over a rural power distribution circuit

W. Sanderson · 2002

Summary. This paper demonstrates that broadband internet can be delivered over rural power distribution lines using RF Powerline Carrier technology. The authors analyze signal-to-noise ratios and channel capacity on a typical rural circuit, showing that 2-way TCP/IP data transmission at 2 Mbps is feasible. This approach offers rural communities worldwide a practical solution for broadband access where conventional infrastructure is unavailable.
