Investigation of the Techno-Economic Viability of A Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) in Rural Malaysian Islands
Summary. This study evaluates hybrid renewable energy systems for rural Malaysian islands, using multi-criteria decision-making to identify the best configuration. Wind and solar energy ranked highest among options. The optimal system combined solar panels, wind turbines, diesel backup, and battery storage, achieving 99.99% renewable energy use while minimizing costs. This configuration delivers substantial savings for remote communities compared to existing energy solutions.
