“We moved here for the lifestyle”: A picture of entrepreneurship in rural British Columbia
Summary. Rural entrepreneurs in British Columbia start businesses primarily for lifestyle reasons and persist despite marginal finances. The study finds that entrepreneurial opportunities and resources exist in rural environments, contrary to perceptions of hostility. Communities and governments can use these findings to develop context-specific policies supporting rural economic development.
