Adoption of renewable energy innovations in the Portuguese rural tourist accommodation sector
Summary. Portuguese rural tourism accommodation owners hold positive views toward renewable energy but rarely adopt it. The study identifies a significant gap between perception and action, driven by unfavorable market conditions and institutional barriers including legal and regulatory obstacles. Geographic location influenced adoption, but unit characteristics and owner demographics did not.
