UHF TVWS operation in Indian scenario utilizing wireless regional area network for rural broadband access
Summary. India's telecom regulator opened TV white space spectrum for LTE auctions, but rural areas lack demand for such large bandwidths. This paper proposes using Wireless Regional Area Networks based on IEEE 802.22 standard to deliver affordable broadband to rural India. The authors present a licensing model allowing multiple service providers to operate dynamically in specific regions at lower costs, leveraging cognitive radio features for efficient spectrum access.
