The Practice of Political Entrepreneurship in a Rural Javanese Village

Wawan Sobari · 2019 · Jurnal Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik

Summary. This case study examines how a village head in Java practiced political entrepreneurship shaped by local culture and Islam. Javanese values emphasizing humble, exemplary leadership and Islamic principles guided the village head's actions. These cultural and religious foundations created community respect and trust, reducing vote-buying and corruption in village elections. The research shows that political entrepreneurship theory must account for cultural and religious drivers, not just institutional incentives.
