Social entrepreneurship in a rural context: an over-ideological 'state'?

Summary. This study examines how social entrepreneurs operate in rural Scotland and what challenges they face. Researchers surveyed thirty stakeholders in the Scottish Highlands and Islands and identified major constraints limiting social entrepreneurship development, factors that support it, and conditions that act as both barriers and promoters depending on context. The findings reveal issues specific to remote rural areas alongside problems affecting Scotland's broader social economy.
