Summary. Rural digital economy expansion significantly reduces agricultural carbon emissions in China, with effects strongest in western and northeastern regions and less-developed areas. Green agricultural technology innovation serves as a key mechanism through which digital economy growth lowers emissions. The study uses panel data from 30 Chinese provinces (2012–2021) and confirms robust results across multiple tests, demonstrating that promoting rural digitalization and green agricultural innovation drives sustainable, low-carbon agricultural development.
