Validating neglected indigenous agricultural knowledge for sustainable and resilient farming in Ethiopia
Summary. This study documents and validates indigenous agricultural practices used by farmers in South Wollo Zone, Ethiopia. Researchers surveyed 197 farmers about crop protection and livestock health management techniques. Ash-garlic mixtures, livestock urine, and plant-based remedies proved most effective for pest control and animal health. The findings show indigenous knowledge offers cost-effective, sustainable farming solutions, though oral transmission methods create risks for knowledge loss across generations.
