Social innovation and community-focussed civic initiatives in the context of rural depopulation: For everybody by everybody? Project Ulrum 2034

Summary. A Dutch village facing depopulation launched a civic initiative to improve liveability. Most residents supported it, but low-income groups showed little interest and many knew little about it. Residents valued tangible, concrete outputs most highly. Increased collaboration within the village and with local government mattered, but only when paired with visible results.
