Effects of Distance Learning on Teachers in a Rural Title 1 Elementary Education Setting
Summary. Rural elementary teachers experienced significant challenges during pandemic distance learning, viewing teaching as fundamentally social and community-based. Three Title I teachers reported that remote instruction undermined their ability to teach effectively, despite community and administrative support. Teachers concluded that in-person learning remains essential for authentic education in rural settings.
