Energy Access for All: Solar Empowerment with Deevabits Green Energy in Rural Kenya
Summary. A social enterprise called Deevabits Green Energy brings solar energy to rural off-grid communities in Kenya through a network of 450 women sales agents. A mixed-methods study of 283 customers and 14 interviews found that 95 percent of customers reported improved quality of life, including better access to information, more study time for children, and increased income. The model successfully empowered women entrepreneurs and improved health and social outcomes in rural communities.
