CONNECTING COMMUNITIES: ENHANCING BROADBAND ACCESS IN RURAL TANZANIA THROUGH SMALL CELL DEPLOYMENT

Pascal Yamakili, Mrindoko R. Nicholaus · 2024 · Journal of Engineering Research and Reviews.

Summary. Small cell deployment with LTE-Advanced technology significantly improves broadband coverage and signal quality in rural Tanzania compared to macro-cell networks alone. Simulations in Southern Chunya show that hybrid macro-small cell systems deliver better throughput, signal-to-interference ratios, and spectral efficiency, with optimal performance at 800MHz frequencies. Small cells offer a cost-effective solution to bridge connectivity gaps in underserved rural and terrain-varied areas.
