Digital transition and the clean renewable energy adoption in rural family: evidence from Broadband China

Summary. China's Broadband China Policy increased clean renewable energy adoption in rural households by 5.8% in central regions, but decreased adoption by 12.6–13.5% in eastern and western regions. The policy's effects operate through population size, economic scale, and income levels. Digital infrastructure expansion drives renewable energy adoption differently across regions, with implications for developing countries pursuing decarbonization through digital development.
