Research on the impact of digital inclusive finance development on the consumption gap between urban and rural residents
Summary. Digital inclusive finance significantly narrows China's urban-rural consumption gap, with each unit increase in the digital finance index reducing the gap by 0.17 units. The effect works primarily by boosting rural residents' income levels. The impact varies by region, proving stronger in highly urbanized areas and weaker in less developed provinces. The study recommends tailored financial support systems, improved digital infrastructure, and risk management to achieve balanced rural-urban development.
