Integrating meteorological and indigenous knowledge-based seasonal climate forecasts for the agricultural sector : lessons from participatory action research in sub-Saharan Africa

Summary. This paper examines how combining meteorological data with indigenous climate knowledge improves seasonal forecasts for agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa. Through participatory action research, the authors demonstrate that integrating local knowledge systems with scientific forecasting creates more effective and culturally relevant climate predictions that farmers can use to make better agricultural decisions.
